Transcripts

The University will be closed from 4:30pm, December 24, 2014 until 8am, January 5, 2015.

All Paper transcript orders INCLUDING express delivery and electronic transcript requests placed on hold will not be processed after 12:00pm Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, December 23, 2014.

Paper transcript production including express mailing and electronic transcripts placed on hold will resume on Monday, January 5, 2015.

Fall 2014 grades and degrees are posted on your record as they are received.  If you wish you transcript to include all Fall 2014 grades, order on or after January 8, 2015.  If you wish to make certain your degree is posted, order on or after February 9, 2015.

The Office of the University Registrar provides official transcripts bearing the Cornell University seal and the signature of the University Registrar for graduate and professional school applications, employers, and scholarships. The University maintains a single transcript for all students reflecting all courses taken at Cornell, including summer, extramural, undergraduate, professional, and graduate courses.

If you wish to see your grades, you can view and print them by semester through Student Center.

Ordering Transcripts and Track Requests Online

Students and Alumni may request an official transcript online through our Transcript Ordering Portal.  All requests must be submitted by the student or former student.  Requests submitted by parents or any unauthorized parties will not be honored.

Paper or electronic transcripts can be ordered anytime by current or former students. 

To Begin Your Order, with your Cornell NetId:

1. Enter Student Center with your netid if you attended Cornell during or after 1982

You will need your NetID and password to enter Student Center to order your transcript. There is a simple, two-step process to obtain and activate your NetID if you don’t have it.

  • To find your NetID, go here and enter your name. The screen that appears should include your NetID.
  • Next, go here to activate your NetID and follow the instructions provided.

2. Once you have your netid you can visit Student Center to order your transcript.

3. Under Academics, select Official Transcript from the drop-down menu to access the Cornell Transcript Ordering Site. If you cannot access the Cornell Transcript Ordering Site, you may need to turn off pop-up blocking on your web browser or allow that site to open pop-up windows in your browser preferences.

4. The first time you request a transcript, you will be asked to create an account. You will only be asked for this information once.

After you submit your order, you will receive an email confirming your request has been received. You will also receive an email when your order has been processed.

You can track the status of your order by selecting My Account in the top left corner of the Official Transcript Ordering Site.

To Begin Your Order without a Cornell NetId:

Use the Self Registration ordering site if you do not have a netid or your attendance began before 1982

New users will be asked to create an account and set a password.  You will only be asked for this information once.

If you are a returning user; you can enter the ordering site with your email address and password and process your transcript order.

After you submit your order, you will receive an email confirming your request has been received. You will also receive an email when your order has been processed.

You can track the status of your order by selecting My Account in the top left corner of the Official Transcript Ordering Site. Please note that the order status will change to on-hold while our staff researches your record and processes your request.

All requests for official electronic transcripts are typically processed within four hours of the order being placed, unless you receive email notification that your order was placed on hold. If your order is placed on hold it could take 4-5 business days to be processed. Anyone with Adobe Reader will be able to receive the secure transcript. Paper transcripts are typically processed within 1-2 business days.

Requests for paper or etranscript prior to 1982 will be processed within 4 – 5 business day. During peak processing times (December through February and from late August to mid-October), processing and mail delivery time may be take an additional 5 - 10 business days.

Electronic Transcript Generation for AMCAS

Students and alumni applying to medical schools can submit electronic transcripts from our online ordering portal directly to AMCAS (American Medical College Application Service).  The transcripts will be transmitted electronically through secure, pdf transfer from our ordering site directly to AMCAS.

Students sending their electronic transcripts to AMCAS, please see this user guide for additional information:

1. Log into Student Center, under Academics,

2. Select “Official Transcript” from the drop-down menu to access the Cornell Transcript Ordering Site,

3. Select “Order Now!” from the welcome page,

4. Finally, select the “AMCAS eTranscript” option. You will be prompted to enter their AAMC ID number thereby ensuring that AMCAS can link the transcript request to the correct account.

If you are unable to process your request with one of the options above, please order by mail (Office of the University Registrar, Attn: Transcript Department, B07 Day Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853 or via fax (607) 255-6262. Download the Transcript Request Form, complete, print and sign the form and mail or fax it to the Office of the University Registrar. Please limit your request to 10 copies per order.

Transcript with Apostille (paper transcripts only)

Some foreign governments and agencies require that diplomas and transcripts be certified with an apostille. There are a number of steps in obtaining the New York State apostille. You need to mail us a request with your signature and include the following:

  • a coversheet requesting your documents be processed for apostille; please include your full name, date of birth, current mailing address including country, phone number, email address, the country requiring the apostille and your signature.
  • any documents in your possession requiring the apostille
  • a check for $3.00 (per document) made payable to Tompkins County Clerk
  • a check for $10.00 (per document) made payable to New York State Department of State
  • an envelope addressed to your desired destination with sufficient postage to get it there; the New York Department of State will mail your document with the apostille to the desired destination

The University Registrar’s Office will notarize the document(s) and take them to the County Clerk’s Office for certification. We will mail the certified document(s) to the New York Secretary of State for apostille. New York State will mail the document(s) to the desired destination.

Please note the fees are per document. Payment must be in U.S. funds drawn from a U.S. institution or bank.
